First, some disclaimers: this guide is based on my personal experience of getting dual Joy-Cons to work as one controller on my computer. Both methods are for Windows PCs only, since vJoy, an integral program, is only available in Windows. You will be consulting images throughout this guide.

As mentioned, there are two methods to cover in this guide.

Method One is based on this Reddit post and instructions from this other Reddit post by Jayzizzle Method Two is also based on a Reddit post leading to this github page from mfosse.

Active devices are displayed by the green highlighting on those boxes. When pressing a button, the light next to the number of that button in vJoy will light up as shown. With vJoy still running, start UCR. The custom template is made by Jayzizzle and is found here.

Run UCR again as an administrator. It should be hiding in the Notification Area, the bottom right of your screen where battery and Wi-Fi are displayed. There are suggested layouts found in the blue rows, but Joy-Con commands can easily be paired with any output. Press the Joy-Con button to be assigned with the Xbox X button. Press the assigned Joy-Con button again and both circles should light up green. That means it works! Note: While Method One is the more reliable of the two, it does have its problems.XDA Developers was founded by developers, for developers.

You could try KingRoot, its usually a one press and phone is rooted, however I can't say I liked the crap root management and other crapware it used to have don't know at what point is the app nowadays.

Its not off topic at all as you need to be rooted for doing the guide. I only rooted one of my devices and KingRoot worked 4 it a few years ago, was just a one press and bam, rooted, but sadly I couldnt install a better superuser root manager.

However it totally helped me a lot on that low performance, low memory phone Other than that I only unlocked the bootloader of my Nvidia Shield with Nvidia authorization as I had problems, but was only to install a full first version FW, it all went well, then I locked it again, then I went to update the android version officially from Nvidia Software and boom blackout LOL.

With such a close relation to smartphone hardware, it only makes sense that people would eventually load some smartphone software onto the Nintendo Switch—and around Ars, we've recently made everyone's favorite handheld run Android. Such a thing might sound like a hardware hacker's pipe dream, but thanks to work from a group called " Switchroot ," you can now get a pretty good build of Android up and running on Nintendo's console.

A project like this is only possible thanks to two of the Internet's biggest hacking communities joining forces—you've got the best of the Nintendo Homebrew scene combining with the best of the Android custom ROM community.

And as we recently discovered, getting Android running on the Switch is a whirlwind tour of huge community projects and discoveries all in the name of doing whatever you want with hardware you own. Further Reading Hackers, farmers, and doctors unite! Support for Right to Repair laws slowly grows.

And if you've been disappointed with Nintendo's lack of an official Virtual Console on the Switch, you'll be able to blow open the doors to classic gaming, both with Android ports of titles for sale on the Play Store and access to about a million emulators. But before we worry about loading Android onto the Switch, the first step is a getaway: we have to break out of Nintendo's sandbox.

Nintendo Switch Joy-Con and Pro controllers work on PC, Mac and Android

While you might think running Android on a thing made out of smartphone parts was inevitable, the road to getting Android on the Switch first had to be paved by the Switch homebrew community. Out of the box, game consoles are locked down to only run software the manufacturer wants them to run. So before anyone can even think about running something like Android, a group of dedicated hackers first had to document how the Switch worked, hunt down exploits, develop software, and probably destroy some devices in order to figure out how to actually run arbitrary code on the Switch.

Further Reading Behind the scenes with the hackers who unlocked the Nintendo Switch In this case, Nintendo's use of an off-the-shelf Nvidia Tegra SoC gave the hackers a good starting point. As a commercial product, the Tegra SoC has a ton of documentation and even readily available developer kits.

Early Switch hacking attempts started on one of these development kits, and documentation from Nvidia even detailed how to bypass memory management and kick off the first exploit.

As one of the hackers behind the exploit said, "Nvidia backdoored themselves. Of all the fun and interesting ways you could break the security of a video game console, a recovery mode vulnerability is pretty handy. This mode is meant for the initial flashing of the consumer OS, and it's used for recovery in the event of a damaged operating system.

The consumer OS is meant to be frequently updated and changed over the life of the console, but if anything goes wrong and the main OS stops working, this recovery mode is your only way to possibly recover the system. Since it is very important that this recovery mode never gets damaged or maliciously modified, it is completely independent of the main OS, and it's read only—it can never be changed or updated once the device leaves the factory.

An exploit in the recovery mode is seriously bad news for a company like Nintendo that wants to lock down its hardware. For devices that have already left the factory, recovery mode can't be patched with a system update. The whole point of the recovery mode is that it always works and never changes, so that it can never be broken by a dumb user, a malicious program, or a bad update.

Any Switch purchased before mid should be vulnerable, and you can compare your serial number against this list if curious.Menu Menu.

They both will every so often take a few seconds to respond to input.

It's super frustrating on Odyssey. It seems mostly okay in the grip and no issues in handheld obviously but split Joycons it's getting really frustrating to play.

My Switch is docked behind my TV. Do they need direct line of sight? Being docked where it is now is really the only viable option for me right now due to my 9 month old going after and grabbing anything within reach. Kudo Member. Honestly the bad signal is reason I can't buy another set of these wonderful controls as I cannot use them. Not sure where they get the interference but I sent them to warranty and apparently they fixed them yet they just got worse. This results in the left Joy-Con controller dropping connection or becoming unresponsive.

As with all Nintendo video game systems, we will continue to monitor the performance of Nintendo Switch hardware and software, and make improvements when necessary. Please note that not everyone is currently experiencing this.

Here are some who apparently have been:. There are some reports of sync issues in Japan, with the left Joy-Con being seen as the problem.

Once again, the left Joy-Con controller could be the culprit. Yet, as this Twitter user shows, there still appears to be lag in Tabletop Mode with the left Joy-Con. His character is in the upper right corner. The delay is most noticeable when the game clock is between and Oddly, in Handheld Mode, Super Bomberman R also appears to suffer from lag in the above clip, leading to Eguri89 to wonder if the problem was with the game itself rather than the hardware.

Digital Foundry examined the issue, creating this chart to explain the Joy-Con sync quality. Digital Foundry noted that the signal strength is not as strong as that of a regular game controller. The day one patch, some claimed on Reddit and NeoGAFfixed this de-sync issue, but there are still folks claiming to have problems. The reason given for the update not fixing the problem is that after the update the Switch must be rebooted with the Joy-Con controllers attached.

Hardware launches are often rocky, and consoles usually get better as time passes in their production life. Since then, however, the company has yet to put out a comment regarding the issue.
